Antonis Anastasopoulos is Associate Professor of Ottoman History at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete. He was born in Athens in 1969. He holds a B.A. from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens, an M.Phil. and a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Cambridge. He is a research associate of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas. His research interests include Ottoman institutions, Ottoman provincial society and centre-periphery relations, and Ottoman tombstones.
